The course is designed to expose freshman students to a variety of writing styles from borchure, journalistic writings, to literature and drama. The first semester focuses on topics relevant to the everyday life, and current cultural, social, poltiical issues around the globe. The second semester takes the students on an odyssey of literature by introducing selected poems, short stories, and a play. Students are given regular tests designed to build their vocabulary and correct their grammatical errors. Film screening and musical listening in a survey of the history of pop music will be given in class. Three writing compositions are required.
